Based on Government Regulations and KOMINFO Ministerial Regulations, every telecommunications tool and equipment that will be used or traded in Indonesia is required to meet technical standards and have an Indonesia SDPPI Type Approval Certification (POSTEL). Products with certificates that have been issued do not have a validity period as long as the product is still in stock beforehand. However, if within 3 years of the certificate being valid, the product is manufactured, assembled, or entered for trade or use in Indonesia, the certificate holder is required to re-certify. In the re-certification process, the test report (LHU) can be used again, as long as there are no changes to the device specifications and applicable regulations.
Types of Indonesia SDPPI Certification (POSTEL) Services
Submission with Domestic Test Report : Test report comes from a domestic laboratory that has been registered and verified by SDPPI.
- Submission with Overseas Test Report: Test report comes from a foreign laboratory recognized by SDPPI.
Categories of Certification Applicants
- Brand owner who is an Indonesian legal entity
- Indonesian business entity appointed as an official representative or distributor by the brand owner
- Indonesian legal entity that manufactures equipment for brand owners
- Indonesian people/business entities that create, assemble and combine device components (Assemblers)
In applying for SDPPI certification, there are 2 document requirements, namely administrative requirements and technical requirements:
- NIB
- Cooperation documents (MoU) with brand owners, appointment as official representative or distributor in Indonesia
- Brand Certificate (DJKI) for brand holders
- Declaration of Conformity (Declaration of Conformity)
- Letter of cooperation agreement with Indonesian telecommunications providers, specifically for cellular signal amplifiers (repeaters/boosters).
- IMEI security guarantee declaration letter and IMEI list approved by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) HKT Special
- Certificate of fulfilment of TKDN obligations from the Ministry of Industry. Specifically for 4G/5G based HKT and 4G/5G based BS, Smart TV max 42 inch and IP STB.

The test report contains the results of testing telecommunications equipment such as WLAN/Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, EMC, Electrical Safety and other telecommunications features. For this reason, it is important to attach a test report (LHU) to prove that the product submitted for Indonesia SDPPI (Postel) Type Approval Certification meets technical standards and the test results still comply with the technical references applicable in Indonesia.

based on KEPDIRJEN SDPPI NO. 11 / 2021 dated January 21 2021 concerning Recognition of Foreign Test Centers for the Context of Certification, there are 39 LABs for Mobile Phones, Handheld Computers, Tablets (HKT) products & 126 LABs for products other than Mobile Phones, Handheld Computers, Tablets (HKT)
Obligations of Business Actors to Provide/Install Labels
After the Indonesia SDPPI (POSTEL) type approval certification process has been carried out, the certificate holder has the obligation to provide or install labels on devices and/or product packaging that has been SDPPI certified (POSTEL).
and if in the future the certificate holder intentionally and/or neglects to place labels on equipment and/or product packaging on products that are traded or used, they will be subject to sanctions in the form of:
- written warning
- termination of certificate services for telecommunications equipment and/or equipment for 6 (six) months
