While it's essential to implement Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for most products, certain technical considerations may necessitate exceptions for Audio Video and Electronics products. Exceptions from SNI requirements for Audio Video and Electronics products are allowed due to specific technical considerations.

 

Compliance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 04-6253-2003 is obligatory for Audio, Video, and Electronics products classified under the specified HS code:

The mandatory application of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) can be excluded in the following situations:

  1. Has an HS code number that is similar to the product type as explained in the attachment to Minister of Industry Regulation Number 15 of 2018, but has different specifications or coverage from the provisions of SNI 04-6253-2003.
  2. Used for special purposes.
    • For example items in the exhibition that are not sold.
    • Used as test samples in product research and development.

Time and Cost Estimates

The process of obtaining an SNI exemption takes approximately 14 working days, depending on conditions, and may take longer than 14 working days. However, it is important to remember that there are no PNBP costs associated with SNI exemptions.

Validity of Letters

  • The validity period of the exemption letter does not have a specific time limit and depends on the number of shipments (realized imports).
